Soundgate, solved?

A question mark, because this is the car equivalent of Old Man and
the Sea. Just when you think it's over...

Soundgate, with a little prodding, sent me a "OEM4A" adapter, and
with the same prodding, agreed to let me keep the harness that came
on the AUB1(the OEM4A is direct wire on both sides, no harness
connectors.)  Has two knobs for front+rear gain, kinda wierd...I'm
worried I didn't get the balance right, but I guess it can be
fine-tuned at the head unit.

Well wouldn't you know, I could swear it sounds -better- than the
AUB1.  It's also -unbelievable- how loud the stock system goes(you
have to adjust the knobs at full volume, or near it.)  Ouch.

Anyway, there's no deck noise(you could hear interference from the
servos), and no alternator noise, both of which are encouraging;
makes me think that maybe, just maybe, the whole setup will work for
more than 20 minutes at a time.  Off to go run some errands with the
head unit on the front seat, we'll see if it lasts.

Oh, and the death squeal from the fuel pump?  Gone, at least for
now...but the driver's side caliper still drags after all that fuss
with the brakes.  <sigh>.  If it's not one thing, it's another...
