Summertime blues?

My car has been hard to start this week with the warm
weather we've been having.  I seem to recall that it
did the same thing last year (gas reformulation?).
It's hard to start with a cold engine and even harder
to start with a warm engine.

A/C has starting whining above 3k rpm. Does anyone
elses do this?  I don't recall hearing this noise
before.  System still blows cold.

Acceleration is waaay down and I suspect my
intermittent temp sensor fault is on again but I can't
seem to get my VAG-COM to communicate with my ECU... sigh
