Neil,

Sorry about not being totally explicit about dumping the Audi (antenna)
system.
I am adressing only about the antenna system, as I have hooked temporary
test
wires, antennas of different lengths and orientations, to the OEM and after
market head units, always getting better results than the Audi antenna
systems.
IMO, the Audi antenna system is the weak link for achieving optimunm fringe
area performance from any head unit, stock or after market.

Installation wise, for Antenna World's AW 276E, remove the passanger side
A piller cover and pull the plastic head liner trim strip free from its
groove across the upper windshield edge to just beyond the RV mirror.
Place/stick the 276E, output cable up and centered both directly behind
the RV mirror and on the in-glass FM antenna, on the windshield as high
as possible, in the blackend glass area.  The antenna lead fits easily
between the glass and the bead trim groove all the way across the
passanger side to and down the A piller.  Now, just route it under the
dash to the center console for connection to your head unit.  Had to
remove the glove box for the routing on the 89 chassis, don't know yet
but probably the same on the 44 chassis cars.  For the ground wire from
the centeral amplifier, I drilled a small hole in the metal trim mounting
bead for a small SM screw around which I twisted the grounding braid.

Mention the 20V lists to Raul at Antenna World.  I have asked that he
give a discount to us from their retail list price.

I am also curious what you mean by dumping the Audi system. Do you mean that
you are going to quit using the Audi antenna
in favor of this new one or do you mean you are going to replace the whole
Boze audio system.
Thanks for letting us know about this. I have always wanted decent AM
reception.

It is an amplified, small folded dipole that sticks on inside the
windshield, fiting easily behind the rear view mirror on the blackend area
of the glass, up against the head liner moulding.  If anyone wants more
specifics on this straight forward installation, ask.
