This is normal; the pump drives both the PS rack and the booster for
the brakes.
It is also very dangerous to drive the car with unassisted brakes;
you've got a fraction of the stopping power if you needed to make a
panic stop.
I would strongly recommend not driving the car(at all) until you have it fixed.
