Holy smokes Pete.... here's how it goes:

Paul: I had to fix the car today
Bonnie: Oh, what was wrong?
Paul: It was the muffler bearing.  It's to be expected.  It's really
      a wear item.  Almost everything is a wear item at this mileage.
Bonnie: How much was that?
Paul: Well, a dealer would have charged $500, our mechanic would have
      charged $300.  I got the part for $150 and it's all done so we
      saved some money there.
