When I had a '90 V8, the automatic transmission was replaced 3 times
in 5000 miles with new ZF rebuilds. I paid for the first, but the 2
other transmissions were covered by warranty. The first transmission
died after 100 miles on my way home from the dealer, it suddenly lost
all gears.. The second transmission started leaking and making a
strange noise, now the third is installed and the car sold..

I think the quality of ZF rebuilds is questionable..
