Short shifter

I've been wondering the same.  The 91 shifter is already shorter than
the earlier cars, so I'm not sure what can be done.  Under the shift
boot, the shifter does look a lot like the CQ part, so perhaps the same
kit using VW parts that was attempted years ago and recently
commercialized by someone on vwvortex would work?
