pentosin coolant

I've heard it before, but always said "pshaw" to the claims that
Pentosin coolant drops engine temps.

In heavy traffic today driving the car hard, both A/C on and off(on
half the trip, off the rest), temps never exceeded the
slightly-left-of-center mark...and it took a -long- time to get
there.  OAT was around 80-85.

It very well could have been the flushing that has improved system
operation- I had neglected it severely(my coolant came out a rather
dirty brown, fair amount of debris, etc), so take all of this with a
grain of salt.  I'd be interested to hear from anyone that had a
system -in good shape- that switched from green stuff->pentosin; did
you notice a difference?

Pentosin does state on the bottle that it'll drop temps a few
degrees; the claims are similar to Redline's Water Wetter, so one
can't help but wonder if Pentosin contains a similar agent already
'built in'.

Another possible factor is that I did a coolant:water 1:2 mix(instead
of a 1:1) since even 1:2 protects to temps well below what's normally
seen here in the Boston area.  I will spike it if I go to the winter
driving school, though...

Anyway, considering that its something that needs to be done every
two years, and the difference between Pentosin and "the green stuff"
isn't that great, I say, why not?
