You can clean the drain for the area under the rain diverter with the air
plenum removed from the heater core box.
You need to disconnect a bunch of stuff under the dash in the cabin to
extract the box completely. After that, you also need to reconnect that
stuff. Big PITA if all you need is to get to the fan motor.
