245/45-17 tires?

Eyvind,
I wonder to what extent the wheel width, and the make/model of tire, factor
into this. I run 235/45-17 Bridgestone S-03's on 8.5 x 17 Ronal R-28s
(wider than I would like, and the max width for the tire size, I'm told)
with the proper offset. I have H&R sports / Koni adjustable sports combo
(-30mm?), and had to re-shape the plastic rear inner fender liners due to an
interference fit. I assume that your Euro '90 has the same factory flared
fenders as the U.S. '91 model.
I have seen 255's on a U.S. '91 200q20v sedan, but the owner apparently had
cut the steel fender lip, and made up a crude 'lip' from hand-laid
fiberglass, for increased clearance. This car had a lowered suspension.
Listers??

Subject: 245/45-17 tires?
Anyone ever tried 245/45-17 tires on a 200q20v? They are 2.1% bigger
than 215/60-15.. I know 235/45-17 is the best match, but I just
wondered..
