Timing retard

Thanks, My turbo is a T3/T04 -.49 (replaced after my k-24 after it
started making a lot of noise at 18psi) I think 16psi is about the most
the k-24 can take for long at 5300 ft.
Heat soak is still a culprit, as you suggested. We need a good data
logger.

Brian,
I guess that if you're running the stock K24 turbo,
you might be experiencing timing retard due to heat
soak. Try doing the same runs in 3rd and 4th gear and
I won't be surprised if you get a very nice torque
curve in 3rd and a "pulled back" curve in 4th, maybe
even at lower RPMs due to the fact that you'll pull
for a longer time in 3rd gear than in 2nd. 22psi is
really too much for the stock turbo (BTDT) so that
won't surprise me if that was the culprit in your
case.
HTH and let us know how it works out, and let me also
know if you find something out regarding the VAG-COM
abilities to datalog timing, that would interest me as
well for a similar street dyno software but that one
is a freeware and it's in french only...
