Coolant draining

Is there an "easiest" or "best" coolant system opening for lowering coolant
levels?  I want to do the blower motor replacement so  I want to disconnect
the heater core supply/drain lines.  Thought I'd also replace the heater
valve because I know it's at least four years old, and probably more like
six.

I seem to recall from doing blower and heater valves on 5ktq's that I could
get to some lower radiator hose and drain into a bucket without losing a
bunch of coolant.   I didn't really want to replace the coolant until next
year because it's only a couple years old.  I was figuring on going until
next summer and then do all the coolant hoses, afterrun pump, coolant,
etc.,  but my limping blower motor has begun to stagger.
