If this is specific to the Bose speaker issue, one strong reason is
that replacement of the head unit requires either:

-installation of an adapter to convert speaker outs to line-level
outs for the bose amplified speakers

-complete replacement of all speakers -AND- wiring to speakers(the
only wiring going to them is power, ground, and low voltage signal.
None of the low voltage signal wiring is appropriate for carrying
amplified speaker-level current.)
