False alarm (was Re: Car refuses to start ...)

As several of you were quick to observe, the first thing to do was to
charge the battery and try again. I did, and it started as if there had
never been anything wrong at all. Phew ...

My entire fleet was on the road to Yosemite yesterday, with me in the
S4 and a friend driving the 200 (and my wife holding things up in the
Caravan :-). On the way out, we drove with some (ahem) verve -- damn,
that 200 is no slouch! Had fun, and made it to Yosemite Village in
good time.

I drove the 200 on the way back, and it started snowing. The OE
Bridgestones on the S4 were apparently completely useless in the snow,
and it was all my friend could do not to slide it into the guardrail.
The all-season Potenzas on the 200 were great, and I didn't have any
trouble other than really bad visibility partly because of old wiper
blades. Sigh ... we infrequent snow drivers need reminding that there
really *is* a difference between performance and all-season tires!

Anyway, thanks for all the help, folks ...
