     my car didn't come with a check engine bulb, so i am in the process of making the tester illustrated on the SJM site.  should have codes later today.  My engine doesn't even sputter and the Tach is totally dead, my mechanic is thinking this runs in accordance with a faulty flywheel sensor, so he will be replacing it once i check the codes on the car.  Hopefully this will solve the prob, as usual, I'll let y'all know.
