For my Lago car--cruising at 70-75 mph will always produce 26+ mpg on
flat terrain. But keep in mind that this is on quite flat terrain and
requires a _very_ light foot on the pedal. The instances when I've
averaged 28+ might depend on direction (wind), season and tire
pressure variations all being "right", but it's happened numerous
times. The wind/terrain factor can be significant: for example on a
roundtrip of 300 miles that I drive frequently each year, I'll often
get 28 in one direction, but on the return leg I'll invariably
average "just" 26. The better direction for mpg is _always_ going
from west to east. There's generally a bit of a westerly breeze at my
back, although if elevation changes at all, there may be a slight
increase (couple hundred feet?) at the eastern end.
