Pretty big puff of oil smoke at cold start-up

Have you changed your oil lately?  I used to get this right after I changed
the oil because I would fill the oil up a little too high.  If I remember
correctly I put 5-1/2 quarts of oil in then just add a little more to keep
the level just at the full mark.  If I put a full 6 quarts in it would smoke
just as you describe at start-up and if I let it sit overnight the oil level
would be slightly over full.  I figured this out 4 years ago and I have
close to 200,000 miles on the car and it doesn't use any oil at all between
3000 mile oil changes.  I also use Mobil 1 oil.
