Adam Needs a new mechanic

Listers,

     My location is Stockton California, located as i said before, about an hour south of Sacramento.  I'm going to school at the University of the Pacific here in town.  I feel that both of the mechanics have done their best, but I'm not sure of their diagnosis.  I have made one of the computer LED testers myself, but i seem to have misplaced it and i will not be able to make another until i go home...probably not until spring break.  Is there a sure fire way to test for computer failure?
