BTW- I forgot to mention- if your car is a snow/salt belt car, you
may encounter lots of seized bolts and the like.
My suspension installation cost over $1100, almost all labor,
because so much of the suspension and underbody hardware was rusted
to the point that it required lots of time to remove and replace
with new hardware or to clean the hardware.
My recent timing belt service, with me providing the parts, cost
over $500 in labor. Again, major problems with some bolts and a
very stubborn crank pulley bolt. I saw my mechanic do the work in
both instances so I know he wasn't just padding the bill- the hardware
looked really ugly.
