Awhile back I saw a 92 S4 at the local dealers that had basically burned up
due to what I was told was faulty Euro light installation by the
owner........the interior of the car was basically destroyed (as was most of
the engine compartment). anybody else ever heard of such a phenomenon?

Subject: [200q20v] Burned Headlight Plugs
An electrical question for the collective Audi knowledge pool.
My son's 4Kq, vintage 1985 has done it a second time.
His budget upgraded (bright bulb wiring harness kit with 80/100w, from
2Bennett) stock headlights has burned the ground plug connection in the
wire harness plug again.
The plastic has melted, and turned black around the ground wire terminal
portion of the plug.
Any suggestions where/what the problem could be? Any BTDT's?
New bulbs, clean connections, is one the passenger side both times.
Thanks, Gary A...

Gary:
Sounds like the ground path is being asked to sink more current than its
potential capacity...causing the overheating and melting of the plastic.
I would first recheck your ground connections to ensure that they are
indeed clean and low resistance....an at the same time ensure that the
ground wire is the same gauge wire as the wire supplying current to the
bulbs
I'm not familiar with the 2Bennett harness kit - does it include relays?
