Fresh air flap is a misnomer in that the fogging windows problem is related
to the door between the cabin and the A/C evaporator box in front of the
passenger side of the car that's supposed to be open only when the A/C is
operating so the A/C system can be cooling progressively cooler air instead
of hot, humid outdoor air. Anyway, there's a spring that holds the flap
into the cabin closed unless the vacuum motor operated by the climate
controls pushes it open. The spring either breaks or cuts through the
plastic mounting bar in the evap box, so the cabin door hangs open. The
door is behind and above the glovebox. If you put your head into the
passenger footwell and look up behind the back of the glovebox with a
flashlight, you can see the door.
