Metal Modine is NLA.  I did mine last weekend for $240 from The Parts
Connection.  Like you, I had screwed the hose back onto the balance of
the original flange after the intended 1.5" had broken off.  It held on
without problem for a couple of weeks of local driving, even w/AC and
diluted mix of H20 and anti-freeze.

The replacement job took about an hour.  Biggest PITA was
locating/removing all the lower screws that secure the radiator from the
bottem.
