My first inclination was to say "Hah!" However if an owner has
incurred costs due to Bose-fire damage that happened after Audi
became well aware of the potential hazard (IMO, mid-2000 is _plenty_
late enough), they might well consider filing a claim (or sue) to
recover costs.

[I am not a lawyer; neither do I play one on TV. I genuinely regret
the litigious nature of our society, and I've never files a lawsuit
in my life. However this could be a situation where a legal slap
would "guide" a manufacturer to be more proactively involved in
promoting consumer safety . ]
