Radiator overflow hose/nipple - what's it for?

Easier said than done, now that Modine doesn't make replacement
radiators w/metal end tanks.  They're now plastic only...which rules
them out for 3B 20v NA engine owners, since the units never came with
hookups for the aux coolers.

   I suspect their Audi business has dropped significantly since,
which is a shame...they really screwed us, despite years of everyone
recommending their products.

One pratically needs a second mortgage to buy a new OEM unit...
