CD Changer...getting better

Hi,

   My changer is having the same problems  but should not have the maple sy=
rup gunk in it like yours did. Mine worked fine up until a month a go.  Fre=
quency 88.3 is what OM says to use.Alsoit is the preset #1 on tuner that wi=
ll get you there. All the same symptoms as yours. Isn't there a laser clean=
er disk on the market to help clean said laser. Maybe something to look int=
o=2E I just can't find the time. Another thing the tuner is doing, loud cra=
ckling when volume control is adjusted. Garage told me it was some kind of =
ceramic pin in the knob that wares over time and it would cost $200+ to rep=
air or a whole new system. Well at least the tape player is still going :-)

     After dismantling the changer, I have found the culprit.  It seems that
the PO liked to cover their CD's in a maple syrup concoction before playing
them.  The eject mechanism was severely coated with the gunk and took some
time to remove with the proper cleaning agents.  Now that it's all cleaned
up, the changer works great...takes the disc, spins it up and changes tracks
but still no tunes.  The controller displays disc and track number and shows
that it's playing (and not paused) but I cant figure out how to get it to
play over the speakers.  On AM, the stations are blocked by some kind of
interference when the changer is running, as well as on some FM stations.  =
Is
there a certain frequency that the CD player broadcasts on?  I was unable to
find such a frequency (or amplitude) while searching the stations...is there
a special button to push?

Encouraged...yet confused,
