installing check engine bulb

No way- I just had the cluster out, it is one of those bulbs that
twist-locks
into place.

The cluster is pretty easy to remove, I'd try that as you'll find it
impossible
to do w/ the cluster in the car.

Can this be done with the dash in place?  I have the lower knee panel
off.

Also, the ignition switch seems to be a common failure item.  Is
preventive replacement a good idea while I have the panel off? I can see
the back of the switch.
