faulty ECU pressure sensor?

Listers,
I have recently noticed that my stock boost gauge will intermittently show
0.0 upon lift-off of the throttle and 0.2 at idle.  Prior to this it would
always show 0.2 at lift-off and 0.4 at idle.  I also noticed that the
reading upon turning the key to the 1st position has been 0.9 instead of
its usual 1.0.  The only other piece to add is that my VDO boost
gauge reads a constant 17 inHg at idle no matter if the stock gauge
reads 0.4 or 0.2.  Could this be a faulty pressure sensor at the ECU?  I
have not modified the ECU.  If this is the case, could this be fooling the
computer and hurting anything?  Car runs great during these intermittent
periods.  Is there something else that could be the problem, like the
stock gauge?

I will probably be modifying the ECU within a month or so.
