Autox'ing

Those classifications are specific to the WWSCC (Western Washington Sports
Car Council) and they really are an over generalization of the SCCA
classifications. This was one of the reasons I was running in the Street
Tire class. Running in the WWSCC D Stock class the 200s are simply out
classed and don't stand a chance. The results from Street Tire are
handicapped based on the SCCA PAX, using the normal G Stock class. The other
Audis in G Stock are A4, A6, A8, UrS4, UrQuattro and the 5000.

The cars that dominate G Stock are the Neons and the Nissan Sentra SE-R,
although it seems like there have been some Jettas and Golfs doing very
well. I still don't think the 200s have a  chance against those cars. There
is simply too much weight and too much body roll to handle the tight
courses. But then again, I'd like to see a really good driver out there in a
200. Having gotten better times than an Acura NSX, Honda S2000 and lots of
Miatas, I am now pretty aware that a large part of autocrossing is the skill
of the driver, and I not a good driver (yet). I don't imagine that I will
ever be truly competitive with the 200, but I surely won't be last.
It really is a blast to go flying around a bunch of cones in big parking
lot, without worrying about hitting anything, or doing any damage to my car
(well, tire and brake wear). Where else can I hear an anouncer say something
like, "Dave is wringing every thing he can out that STATION WAGON, and has
improved his time by a full second!" I highly recommend it to anyone who
hasn't tried it. It's a pretty inexpensive thrill. I haven't done any real
track time yet. So far, going 60 mph around a parking lot is satisfying my
need for speed.
