Rear control arm clunk?

Steve,

I assume that you are speaking about the upper control arm and not the lower
trapizoidal arm. Some time ago I had clunks or squeaks in a ball joint on
this arm, don't remember which sound or joint, but it was a sob to isolate
to the specific joint, which was physically loose. You can replace the
whole arm or, as I did, just replace the offending joint. If you do the
latter, be advised that the two ball joint ends are keyed together with
mating overlapping flats on their ends inside the adjusting nut so, to
remove one, you must remove both simultaneously. Before removing the link
measure its length such that you can rough adjust the refurbished one before
installation. These ball joints were all dry so I relubed all on both sides
by injecting EP tranny oil thru the boots. No problem since.
