I love the smell of gasoline

Hello - yesterday after a afternoon of very hot in-town driving, I noticed a
strong smell of gasoline emanating from the passanger door area. I looked
at the fuel lines and did not see anything amiss. However where the fuel
lines disappear into the underbody there was some proto-plasmic greasy stuff
- almost like undercoat was being disolved. But this substance did not
smell of gasoline. I let the car sit for a few hours and then when I
returned the fuel smell was gone. This was the first time I noticed this
but it was also the most stop and go driving I have done in this car. The
car has a new fuel filter and 86,500 miles on the odometer.

The archives point to leaks occuring in urS4 fuel lines and AoA doing a
recall but not for a 200. Has anyone encountered anything like this? Is
this something to take to a mechanic - gasoline fumes makes me nervous.

Thanks,
Rakesh
