Bose rear speakers

I have the Bose system in my car. It's not exactly great, but I can't
afford replacing it yet. (the 200q20v insurance is _expensive_!) Are
all the Bose rear speakers prone to catch fire? I tried disconnecting
them, but then the sound was really bad, but - I'll rather have bad
sound than no car..

(BTW: aftermarket radio line-out connected to the Bose speakers work
pretty well, except the "pop" when turning the radio on/off)
