Starter

It's been cold as heck in Montana lately ( 20 below this morning) - the last
two times I have started the car at 5+ below, the starter has not engaged
the solenoid- the starter just spins. Turn the key off and back on and, so
far, it has engaged on the second try. My question: is the starter finally
going or is it just a symptom of the cold? Any BTDT?

I suppose with 140k+ on the clock and original starter and alternator, I
should just replace them or have them rebuilt as a preventitive measure.
