Air Box Removal

I need to remove the air box to replace the heater core and Bentley
says the center console has to be removed as a part of the procedure.
Is this really required? To undo duct fasteners, etc.?????

I still have not been able to find a detailed description of this
repair, so if anyone has any sage advice it would be most appreciated.
