Spurious brake/oil warnings (was Re: fusible link meltdown detection)

Talking about paying attention to the autocheck system: for the past few
months, mine always flashes the brake pad and oil warning lights. (New pads,
wear sensor wires connected and in good condition, oil level at max,
pressure gauge reads normally).

I've seen the spurious oil warning a few times every year ever since I've
had the car (6 + years now). Does it have anything to do with the bad
solder joints in the instrument panel? I have the classic symptoms of that,
too.

Also, someone posted a great website which described exactly how to go about
fixing the instrument panel circuit board ... anyone remember what it was?
