Air Conditioning Question

How do you determine if your air conditioning system needs to be
refilled with R-12?  The system in my car works fine, not real cold but
it does the job.  Luckily I found an extra can of Freon R-12 sitting on
the shelf.  I used to have a Larc fully automatic bb gun machine gun.
It would fire up to 3,000 bbs per minute-fully automatic and using
canisters of R-12 for a propellent.  They used to sell them mail order
from Popular Science in the 70's.
