I've had nothing but excellent results using the
jump-start post as a power source. I fabricated my own
harnesses. I enclosed the relays in a plastic bag
w/ty-wrap to minimize corrosion prollums. So far so
good for 2 years now....

On the 85 q I took power directly from the alt output,
no problems seen here yet either, but it's only been a
few months.
