Stock wheel surface damage???

I was out of gentle wheel cleaner on Monday and wanted to clean up the
wheels before dad came and took my car for a spin. All I had around was
some old "goop" hand cleaner (old enough that it was all runny). I was
absolutely amazed at how good a job it did getting off brake dust and
all I used was my hand and a wash mitt.

Jobe,

While not as bad as the Notorious Speedline wheels, the stock BBS
200q20v /v8 mesh wheels wiith polished lips need regular attention and
waxing to avoid the pitting you describe. If it's as severe as it
sounds, you may indeed need to have them refinished. I lucked out in
that most of mine came off with repeated treatments of bug and tar
remover, so I'm guessing it was mostly road tar. Had a look at a
friend's wheels over the weekend and they were well beyond that. Don't
know if I could polish /buff them to a decent state.
