Roof rack-sedan, low cost

For those not schlepping around bicycles, but needing occasional
protection when hauling  4x8 plywood, Christmas Trees, et. al., I've
used an inflateable roof rack aka "HandiRack" for three or four years.
 It comes with a hand-pump to inflate the tubes quickly, next the straps
mount the "rack" securely, and when completed, it re-stows conveniently
in a wheel well.   Here's one source, but there are others:
