Have you tested the "bomb"?  Test is to turn off the engine and pump the
brake pedal until it gets hard.  A good bomb can give you 30 or more
pumps.  A fading bomb gives you 10 or fewer pumps.  A dead bomb gives you
one or zero pumps.  The red light coming on as the engine starts and then
disappearing indicates the accumulator (bomb) isn't holding its pressure.
