Zooom! Yikes!!!

My first guess is that it's like what happened to me recently on the way
down to North Carolina.  I was getting off the freeway and the car wanted to
idle at 3k!  What the @#$?  I turn off the car and discover that the cruise
control actuator has broken at the diaphragm area and the linkage jammed in
such a way as to keep the throttle open.  I took off the linkage and all was
fine (except no cruise control for the moment).  It's about 5-6" and hooks
up to the throttle body via a ball clip.  Just wedging a screwdriver should
get it to pop off.  Hope that's your problem.
