Fuel Gage Problem

Hello All

I have major issue. My fuel gage seems to work fine, but stops being
accurate around 1/2 to 1/4 of a tank left. Where is the sender? and How do I
track down the cause of this? Could there be a short somehere? I ran out of
gas on the highway and don't want to repeat it anytime soon.

Thanks

If you aren't low on brake fluid and the emergency brake is released, under
what other conditions would the little red "BRAKE" light come up on the
bottom
of the dash. It just keeps comming and going and most of the time it keeps
flickering.

Check the level of the fluid in the hydraulic booster system
reservoir. Low fluid there can make the red brake light flash. So can a
bad "bomb" if it flashes when you're using the brakes.

-low hydraulic system pressure(at the brake booster). Caused by
clogs, pump failure or belt slippage, leaks, or accumulator
failure(the pump cannot meet instantaneous pressure demands of the
brake booster).

-low fluid level at the hydraulic reservoir or brake fluid reservoir

-short in the ebrake switch circuit or switch itself

Look for leaks, low fluid levels, loose belt, or dying
accumulator(should get at least two dozen brake pedal presses before
it goes hard.) Pump failures are slightly more unusual.

The S4 brake hose will work fine, fittings are fine. Other alternative
would be to specify a late model V8- 92+.

No stainless lines for you?

That would have normally have been my preference, but this hose
replacement is being done on an "emergency" basis after discovering
that brake fluid was oozing from a split in the old hose (detected as
I was about to mount snow tires on Friday.) Since I have intentions
to upgrade the front brakes next year, the present hose replacement
will likely be a temporary thing, so I figure I might as well just
install the oem type.

Anyone have experience with their brake set-ups? I
noticed that a complete kit is available from QRS
Motorsport for around $1500. What kind of savings can
be had by sourcing the parts yourself once you're a
member?

They have the stock hp and torque figures as well as the picture wrong, that
may be a bad sign. On the other had if the just rebadged others chips as
has been suggested, and the price was lower that would be good right? I'm
interested, but cautious.

I run an Upsolute chip in my TDI and it's excellent.
If there is interest, I will get more details from the US rep.

In case you want rebadged chips I can get them for you for real cheap and
they ARE true to the originals :-) Quite frankly, Upsolute looks to me like
DigiTec which only copies MTM, adds 30 degrees of advance at 1 RPM point
out of 4 (yep, I got some origial DigiTec chips that have as high as 70
degrees advance at one point inside the map) and sells these as originals
and developed by them...the only point would be breaking the engine because
of 70 degrees BTDC timing advance in a limp mode timing map.....

All the fluids are well above minimum level and that light comes on wether I
use the brakes or not. One thing to note though is that the light used to
come
on sometimes when I'd turn the car on but as soon as I would tap the brakes
it
would go off. I don't know if that helps any but I thought I'd throw it in.

My original post is below.

what other conditions would the little red "BRAKE" light come up on the

Have you tested the "bomb"? Test is to turn off the engine and pump the
brake pedal until it gets hard. A good bomb can give you 30 or more
pumps. A fading bomb gives you 10 or fewer pumps. A dead bomb gives you
one or zero pumps. The red light coming on as the engine starts and then
disappearing indicates the accumulator (bomb) isn't holding its pressure.

Greetings all-
I will soon be rebuilding a turbo and have a K24(water jacketed) as well as=
a K26(oil cooled-no water). I am thinking about mating the cold side of t=
he K26 to the hot side of the K24. I know this has been done by many--but =
am looking for some current feedback on results--top end power, spool up...=
all the usuals. It may start it's life on a 10V WX urq, then get transferr=
ed onto a 3B. Any input welcome...

As an aside--I had Majestic Turbo rebuild my current K24 and it pooped out =
on me after less than 5000 miles--any other results like this from these gu=
ys out there?

TIA

Brandon
