I believe the alleged "pin" problem is not mainly in regard to
cleaning the nozzles but from trying to re-aim them. The lateral
force needed to change the nozzle direction can evidently damage (or
distort) the plastic and ruin the spray pattern (i.e., if using a
slender pin or needle). I've carefully re-aimed the nozzles by using
a  brad (nail) which was as thick as possible--with no ill effects.
