Folks, we had a great IRC chat this evening...mere hours after I
announced on the main list that I had set up an IRC server. Looks
like we got us a winner!
We had, at one point, 6 people:
-myself
-Levant Cur(s-car lister)
-Michael Gough(200q20v lister)
-Darin(s-car list admin for those who don't know)
-Dan Simoes(Audifans site admin, for those who don't know)
Topics were quite diverse, ranging from making poking fun at Levant
for going to Taco Bell in an S-car, to something about Lincoln Mark 7
turbo diesels :-) All in all, a fun discussion that certainly
reminds me of the kinds of discussions that go on at the various
social gatherings I've been to.
So, it turns out that we had at least a few 'closet' IRC users who
hadn't been on IRC in a while but decided to show up- awesome! Hope
some new folk show up. I can already see some interesting
possibilities once we get this going with more people(ie once we get
people hanging out on a regular basis.) It will certainly never
replace the list- but it does have its unique qualities.
I'm working on the server's config, so it's not entirely polished; I
need to set up logging and few other things, but it is functional,
and I will leave myself logged in on #main. Drop by and see who's
around(Ti just popped in right as I was finishing this email and said
hello!)
Complete(or nearly so) info at:
http://frank.mercea.net/audifest/
(the IRC was set up for a planned online Audifest on Nov 30th. All
Audi enthusiasts are invited..again, see the page above for more
info.)
Email me direct if you have any questions, and feel free to forward
to the lists I missed.
Brett
