Suspension options

Be aware that there are at least 3 sets of springs from H&R that will fit
our cars:
* #29800 - spec'd specifically for the 200q20v
* #29921 - originally spec'd for the V8q and later for the urS4/S6 as well
* #29771 - "race" stage 3 for the urS4/S6.  i believe originally spec'd for
the '97 euro S6+ (V8) I know of no one in the US using this on a '91 200q

I have been running 29921 with Bilstein HD (US nomenclature) for the last
four years. I ran this setup with stock 15" wheels for about 6 months and
do NOT recommend it. The strength of the springs is initially lost to the
higher sidewalls of the tires, and the car has a tough time setting in a
corner or curve at "reasonable" speeds. With 16" (225/50-16) or 17"
(235/45-17) wheels & tires, these work well, with much improved response
and handling. To some (my wife) though the car is harsh--I call it a firm,
well controlled ride, though IMO, front compression damping is a bit too
much and rear rebound damping is a bit too light

This combination does NOT drop the car as much as stated--my car dropped
about 5/8 to 3/4 inch all around. Perhaps in the heavier urS4/S6, the car
would drop the specified 1.2" and I suspect my car would have dropped 3/4
to 7/8 inch with either Boge or Koni shocks. FWIW, my goal was to not
drop the car more than 3/4" due to the nature of the strut suspension on
our cars.

Overall--I like the results, am very happy with it...only problem you will
have is if you hop into someone else's 200q20v with stock suspension--last
weekend I carpooled to Portland (Quattrofest @ PIR) with Pete Kunzler's
200q20v: stock springs and Konis and a loaded roof rack--his wallowing pig
didn't like what I tried to do -- Pete--fix your car, and not by buying
something else :)
