Backup light switch replacement

Grrr... a simple job turns out to not be so simple...

I tried to replace my broken backup light switch this weekend. Put 22mm deep
well socket over switch, together with a couple of 3/8" extenders and a
universal joint to get the ratchet wrench up where I could get some leverage.
Tried to get the switch loose, but no luck, even with a pipe extender on the
ratchet handle.

Am I missing something here, or am I just not strong enough? Is it easier to do
from below (somehow I think not)?
