hissing and whooshing

Listers,

  As this is my first turbo'd car, this may seem elementary, but I'd just like to be sure I'm not hearing a leak.  What does turbo spool up sound like?  Should it sound like anything at all?  When i get above 5 lbs of boost in my car i hear a fairly loud "Tsssssss" noise.  Is this normal?  My car makes a solid 11psi or 1.7 bar so if this is a leak, it's gotta be pretty small.  Also, i remember a few monthes back there was discussion on how to get more induction noise from our setup.  Useless as this is, I think it'd be cool to have a little more snort to go with the 5 cylinder rip.  Someone talked of removing one of the airbox panels? or perhaps K&N?
