Boost Goes Away

I would agree that 1.6 is easily obtained. 1.7 is rare, and I do have a
long steepish hill that I use for test runs. When boost goes away, it
seems like the WGFV is not working or something. I will test further to
determine whether the boost comes back do to a cool-down period or an
ECU "reboot".
I should have mentioned before that the coolant temp sensor is about 10K
miles old, the check engine does not come on, and I have not consulted
VAG-COM yet.

I've noticed 1.6 tending to be the 'easily obtained' maximum on the
display pretty often with my III+, and numbers on the gauge I had
were falling short of what others with III+ have seen. I will get
1.8 if the acceleration is long enough, but it seems to take forever.
Curiously, I get fantastic response and power after long periods of
highway driving, two hours usually does it, but the more the better.
I have yet to figure out why, but it has been a characteristic of the
car since before I can remember. The car just seems to hate city
driving.
Now that I have a lot of boost leaks settled, I might throw the gauge
back on and see what I get, along with an LED to show the wastegate
frequency valve action...but first, I'm going to have to replace or
repair the aux radiator :-(
