Hey Chris,
Glad to see you finally rounded them up and put them in. Slight difference,
eh?

In response to your question... I can't tell you for certain because I've
never had one inspected. But I can tell you of my DOT experiences. I
managed a fleet of several hundred trucks for Roadway Express in Chicago for
about 6 years. It has been my experience that DOT inspectors really know
next to nothing about vehicles. I would have to routinely have our shop
repair and sign off DOT warnings and/or violations. Most of them exhibited a
lack of knowledge that was laughable. I even received a violation (+
substantial fine) for a hydraulic brake fluid leak... on a semi... with
pneumatic brakes. Hmmm.

So, to make a short story long, I wouldn't sweat it for a minute. They will
almost certainly have absolutely no idea that you've changed anything. If,
by chance, you run into the Big Kahuna Inspector... claim ignorance. "I
dunno, I got it this way". He'll drop it. It would require work to figure
it out.
HTH,
Dave
