20v handling

Looking for some advice:
I'd like to put stiffer springs in my 20v, but while looking at the
suspension I'm left believing that lowering any more than 1/2 to 3/4 inch in
the front and maybe 3/4 to 1 inch in the rear is going to lead to geometry
problems.  Does anyone know of springs that I could use that would be
stiffer, yet not lower to the point of starting bumpsteer problems?

The other thing... in the front suspension, I'm thinking that really good
handling is going to be difficult if not impossible to achieve if you're
using a piece of spring steel (the swaybar) to locate the front wheels.  What
did Audi use when racing this chassis?  Has anyone had the chance to look at
the suspension on one of those era of cars?  Has anyone ever done a mod that
somehow utilized some other means (maybe a triangulated control arm) to more
effectively stabilize/locate the front wheels?

I ask this stuff because I really love this car.  It's power is exciting, the
braking is now phenomenal, but it all falls apart at the first exit ramp.  I
got to watch my own 200 at full steam going around a cloverleaf.  It was not
pretty.  Inside rear almost off the ground... front wheels moving around like
the little spring mounted waving hands you see on dashboards... and a top
cornering speed in the mid 60s.  Every front suspension part in this car has
been replaced within the last 3 months, including the steering damper.  It
has Konis with stock springs, and a 4.2 V8 swaybar (which did help)... 17x8s
with SP9000s... but it just doesn't work.

By comparison, I had an old E28 5 series BMW, KYBs, eibachs and stock
everything else that would maintain about 74 through the same ramp... and
look good doing it.  Plus, it had a very reasonable ride.  But the power...
nothing like my 20v.

I'm just looking for the best of both worlds.... any suggestions?
