More UFO rambling.....

BIRA sys2/UFO uses a 13" X 1.125" Mercedes V12 Rotor
that has beautiful curved internal cooling vanes.

The old UFO rotor and Caliper weighed in at 33 lbs per
side on my old bathroom scale while the new
Rotor/Caliper/Bracket weighed in at 29lbs per side.

With the larger 17" wheels there is probably a net
increase in weight.

New UFO rotors cost roughly 1/3 the price of my
upgrade (<$1500).  You basically can't justify the
upgrade based on cost effectiveness of rotor
replacement (as proven by Brett's breakdown earlier
this year)

One of the things I could never quite get used to
since purchasing my 200 was the feel of the brake
pedal.  I always felt it was hard to press with little
pedal travel compared to newer Audis and BMWs.  The
brake upgrade has updated the car's braking ability as
well as the pedal feel and pedal travel.

The other thing I can't quite get used to is the
rubbery shifter ... hopefully the used weighted UUC
shift knob I got on Ebay for $45 will help.

Besides the rattles and squeaks (and potential
reliability concerns) there is little to pull me
towards a newer car.

Unless I can buy a 3-4 yr old M3 for $15k. I think I
would miss the quattro in the winter though.
